When we think of creativity we often think of art and painting or beautiful crafts.
And if we’re not very good at any of those things we make statements like “I’m not creative”.
Except we’re ALL creative in our own way.
I used to say “I’m not creative” regularly because I’m rubbish at art; and drawing; and painting; and knowing what colours to paint my house.
This all shifted when I decided to explore where my own creativity lies and it’s in:
- Looking at problems and coming up with innovative solutions to solve them.
- Creating wonderful experiences for people to enjoy
- Thinking of little things that make people feel special
- Managing money
- Baking cakes which taste great but might not look amazing
- And lots more
I am very creative in my own way.
And guess what?
When I started to appreciate my own unique creativity I suddenly noticed I was becoming more creative in the areas that I believed i was rubbish at – my cakes started to look good aswell as taste good.
I decorated an annexe to let on Airbnb and it looks beautiful.
I can even create beautiful graphics:
So how are you creative? What are the areas you excel at? Focus on where you are creative and guess what – you might discover your creative in other areas too.
And because it’s Christmas Day I wanted to leave you with a beautiful Christmas song – one of my favourites:
